What was so interesting is NOBODY made jokes about her; nor did anyone insult or hatespeach her....ever.... no man ever slagged her off ...
It was as if she didn't exist, really... (even if all my arty farty artschooly girlfreinds had her lps... )
Why? ... I think because at last the 'culture' had just changed. As soon as we saw her we knew that she... alone... even with her Mr Budgie by her side... she was a purest ever new real artist and poetess and force of nature - perfect... and that as soon as she colonised planet Top of The Pops ... that was it... the culture had changed for good, for ever...
And thus no one KNEW what to say... and respectfully didnt say much.... after all we arent really allowed to chit chat with true Queens...
Now having of late immersed myself in Mrs "Anti-progress"..or Progress Agnostic... and its even deeper than that i was born knowing (with old man Ralph) things don't really 'progress'...
I have always been interested in 'change' and believe me all that has changed since Stendhal's Red and Black is literature and novels have largely become slightly more infantile and cheesy..lacking 'BOUNCE' ..
(and the real Johnny come-later God, Thomas Bernhard hailed Stendhal as bouncy king, rightly.. he would also i am sure love to have encountered Rachel's Mars Room . and known immediately that the 'bounce' is still there very occasionally, in just a few...hertoo....)
