And years of photographing the area around that pool is in fact an act of Resistance silent art that... needs a story to bring it into the resonant colours or sensations a man may have with a terminal diagnosis
So 2018 there are some Otters that colonised some large lakes in the hills above here (Flintsham) alongside the Mccurach badger killer lands...

Now i alone knew the otters were in the higher pools...several weeks i would go and stalk em quietly at just before dawn..
and tried to gather a group to have them protected...
Thats irrelevant as even the silly 30+ year strong dope addicted nurse on the drugs who in fact called her two sons names from otter stories....wouldnt come and help.

It is only childish to think in terms ones back being "watched"..in fact a bit quick-to-dsay-ANYthing to fill the space...
It is about having someone (maybe knowing and accepting death) who would know...
Simple, the law is extremely strict in theory...but i lived IN the 'environment' for years - deliberately - a far far more wild and nature rich area, than the SW.... BUT...
the otters having been killed one night (so they would not prey on the sportsfishing) , as everyone stood along that track as i walked by knew.....they WON... the local policeman there too one of the shooters.. they knew every one that had i known (assumed so) they would simply hurt me and no one could give a fig... they are in charge.
There is no watching of backs in fact all it is is knowing fully they won.. having the zen to accept defeat and all 'environmental' activism is silly townies with coloured hair...showing off. Envronmentalism is over DECADES...as the power ebbs and flows
And at the time i could not even speak out to Mister so called Extinction rebellion McCurach... (i sounded him) ... because at the end of the day - the wealthier landowners always will and always DO hurt the person they know may have the guile to do something...maybe with the law...
And all it is about is - for 5+ years i could share that with no one - the looks that day as i walked up that pathway next to the gathered cabal... fear ... but me lucky enouggh to accept death by then but i would not even utter a word to a soul about these events...in case some fool slipped a word out... that got back to...
Simply - the bully boys are in charge. Period...and often one cannot say a word..
And just having one person who one can trust to tell it like it is is in fact the mature version... of "someone to watch your back"

* and i care about anyone's rotten hull... all waste is bad... especially when one has the tools wood and skill to fix it... my rule a long time ago became not to judge.
