1. Festival. from the later 70s in my case.. great to gather and enjoy or be changed a bit by some good musac or art...... or dancing together...but its just...just...a gig!!.

music, bring your own beer... and someone would be bbqing veggieburgers at a slight premium.... in fact not really.... same price for veggieburger as in a cafe in Sheppherds bush....
often nicer...v tasty...with a bit of love in them... or just a smallest bit of " community" ... i jest... hardly... as its a 5 minute expetience quickly firgotten
as a one off...
ff 20 or so years... the costs of all the infrastructure, regulations, AND his SUV he must have for the burger truck... and ... and... the pitch fees quadrupled in ' real' terms... etc etc... the veggieburger is doubled or trebbled in real terms compared to a late night cafe in shep bush... or domewhere ungentrified....
and he... the modern chilman Profit and his 3 grand youtube camera... he needs to be there to ..pimp his cameraperfect pout....
is all just ( as she decried regarding her entertainment industry " i no longer accept or wish to Bee in any institution" ).. all of these things ... festivals especially, are merely 'institutions'... or theme parks with a fairly steep entry price amd running cost
and i am with..her... i saw rhrough their self righteous con decades ago...
( and they ALWAYS leave beghind tons if litter... even with a perfect litter pickin regime... tons of towny litter gets carried off into the wind...eg chinese lanterns, ... shaman gatgerations are if course above anti litter damage regulation!... balloons etc i would find loads even in the hills if Herrock, 50 km from any gatheration of litteting

festivals are neither natural state, nor in any way where one can ever find real wisdom.... been there looked... especially as the operating costs if even a wandering festival philosopher became far higher
